DESCRIPTION:If you have ever wondered what it would be like to try roller derby\, now is your chance! \nNo experience? No problem!No skates? No problem! \nWe will teach you everything you need to know and supply the gear- all we ask is that you bring along a helmet. \nSome more details:-This will be a 12-week intake course. After 12 weeks we hope that you will decide to join our league going forward!-Your first session is completely free\, after that it is just £7 a week-All genders are welcome to join our intake program! However\, to play in our league skaters should identify as female or gender expansive (e.g.\, non-binary). If you would like to join and identify as male\, we have plenty of skating and non-skating positions for you. -If you are concerned about transportation just let us know! We have skaters that come from all over Nottingham and surrounding areas who may be able to help. We also have plenty of folk who take the bus/tram-We often get asked what to wear on your first practice! The answer is: something comfortable. Work-out clothes are usually the best option- we want you to be able to move around and break a sweat without worry-“I don’t know if I can play\, [I’m not athletic/ I’m too old/ I’m so short’]”- nonsense! DESCRIPTION:Stock up on glitter and get ready to sparkle because it’s time for the Louisey Rider Cup! \nHosted by Nottingham Roller Derby\, The Louisey Rider Cup is an annual roller derby tournament which celebrates the life of skater Louise Wright\, aka Louisey Rider #66\, who was sadly taken from us in a cycling accident in 2014. A key part of the UK roller derby calendar\, this annual event has so far made over £20\,000 for road safety charity Brake. DESCRIPTION:The Louisey Rider Cup is back! Well\, sort of… \nOn Saturday Sept 4th\, expect all the sparkle and excitement of the game day side-show plus afterparty shenanigans in one outdoor venue – the Old Cold Store’s sizeable courtyard. Nottingham Roller Derby presents LRC – Party Edition! \nCLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nThere will be no Roller Derby tournament this year but that isn’t going to stop us from having a glittery get-together and a showdown for the second most coveted trophy of the day – Lip Sync Battle Champion. \nIt was important for us to be able to do something together this year to honour our teammate\, Louise Wright\, aka Louisey Rider #66\, who was killed suddenly in a cycling accident in 2014. \nLou had often spoken about putting on a tournament. In the Louisey Rider Cup\, we found a way of both celebrating her life and combining all of those off-the-wall ideas that we all know she would have suggested. \nIn normal times\, The Louisey Rider Cup is an annual Roller Derby Tournament that brings together hundreds of people from all over to raise money for road safety charity Break – so far we’ve raised over £15\,000. \nWe know Lou would have bloody loved what the tournament has become\, brilliant costumes or fancy threads\, a chance to get together to make memories and life-long friends. As long we’re allowed\, we refuse to spend another year without waking up with a pillow full of glitter. \nWHAT TO EXPECT: \nStarting at 5pm in the outdoors area of the Old Cold Store\, we’ll be treating you to: \nEntertainment\nGames\nStalls\nCompetitions\nAt 9pm the infamous LRC Lip Sync Battle \nPlus\, of course\, glitter. Lots of glitter! \nDrinks and food will be available from the Vat & Fiddle and we’ll have plenty of protection from the unpredictable British weather! \nWe’ll also have our annual sponsored event. In the past\, we’ve shaved or waxed various folx in different places and last year we made Bear do a random obstacle course. Look out for announcements on this year’s challenge.
