It doesn’t matter if you’re a total beginner and you haven’t skated since your adjustable Fisher-Price days, or if you’re a seasoned skater looking for a new challenge. We’ll teach you all the skating and roller derby skills you’ll need! We welcome people of all genders, you just need to be over the age of 18 years old.
Our learn to play roller derby sessions:
Starting 13th Jan 2019, we’ll be running a ‘Learn to play roller derby’ session every Sunday 9:45am-12pm at Mellish Sports Centre, Bulwell. This is a rolling session so you can start on any week.
We have kit to lend out (skates, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards) on a first come, first served basis. You will need to bring your own helmet to every session and a mouth guard once you start doing contact drills.
We recommend reserving any kit you’re intending to borrow from us during the week leading up to each session. If you’re interested in coming please let us know using this FORM so we can keep you updated with info on what to bring, reserving kit and other questions you may have.
For more info please read our beginner document HERE.
Please let us know if you’re interested and we’ll add you to our email list for more info using this FORM.
If you have any questions then email us at email@example.com
Interested in becoming a referee
If you like rules and regulations, ensuring they get followed (in addition to skating), then maybe you’d enjoy this! All genders are welcome. We’ll run you through all the skating basics, teach you the specific skills needed to become a ref and help you with learning the rules. Referees will need to start on the Sunday sessions if you don’t have previous skating experience. Please email in to firstname.lastname@example.org
Interested in becoming a NSO?
These are our ‘non-skating officials’ and they are vital to the running of any derby event. Maybe you like the look of the sport and want to get involved in the social side of things but don’t really fancy skating. Our team of NSOs travel the country officiating at games featuring some of the country’s best skaters. You get to be part of a valued team on game days, get to see games for free, get to be much closer to the action and generally have a great time doing it. Just email in to email@example.com
